Columbian Route

At the indicated time, we will pick you up from the hotel in Punta Umbría and we will begin our Colombian route following the footsteps of the historic discoverer through the province of Huelva.

Our starting point will be Palos de la Frontera, the town where Columbus prepared all the details of his new route to the Indies. You already know the ending, right? His journey aboard the three caravels led to the discovery of America, the new continent.

We will review this historical episode in the Monastery of La Rabida, a temple built between the 14th and 15th centuries where the Genoese navigator planned his route before presenting it to the court of the Catholic Monarchs.

From the monastery we will go to the Muelle de las Carabelas, the most exciting moment of our Columbian route. It is an exact reproduction of the port from where the caravels of the Pinta, the Niña and the Santa María departed on August 3, 1492. At the dock we will find three exact replicas of the boats used at the time. You will be able to discover each of its rooms! You will be able to discover each of its rooms!

To finish Christopher Columbus’s route through Huelva, we will visit the Encounter Island and the 15th century Port. Can you imagine what the Spanish sailors found when they arrived in San Salvador? Here we can put ourselves in your shoes! Can you imagine what the Spanish sailors found when they arrived in San Salvador? Here we can put ourselves in your shoes!
